Yangtze Civilization Pavilion, one of the major architectures of the 10th China International Garden Expo, is located in the core area of the Garden Expo. (Picture 2)
As the "cultural highland" of the Garden Expo, Yangtze Civilization Pavilion highlights the history, present and future of Yangtze River civilization through interactive experience, 3D and 4D virtual reality demonstration, etc. It aims to display the charm of rivers and lakes in Wuhan, and further enhance the comprehensive effect of Wuhan's urban culture connotation. Besides, the Yangtze Civilization Pavilion is also a main venue to display the exhibitions themed with "garden and ecological technology" and "garden and happy life".
The design of Yangtze Civilization Pavilion combines sense with sensibility, and aims to integrate architecture with nature. In terms of technology, it echoes the "green" theme of Garden Expo by using appropriate technologies to solve problems of energy, resources and environment. In terms of architecture, it echoes the landscape characteristic of the city with due respect to Zhanggongdi and third ring road.
In terms of building materials, it adopts adjustable architectural surface to deal with unique climate characteristics of hot summer and cold winter in Wuhan. In terms of interior space organization, the flexible exhibition space can satisfy multidirectional demand of the architecture after the Garden Expo. In terms of construction cost, it's saves cost and construction duration at the same time.
The specific technologies applied include roof greening, rainwater collection system, smart sprinkling irrigation system, etc. Besides, the energy consumption of air conditioner and illumination is greatly reduced through effective use of natural lighting and ventilation. (Picture 4)

As the core of the Garden Expo, Yangtze Civilization Pavilion tells the civilization of Yangtze River through exhibitions. It is bound to be closely linked with Wuhan's tourism, education and economy after the Garden Expo.
